Starigrad-Paklenica tourist information

Starigrad-Paklenica is a town and harbour located on the coastline of the Velebit canal, at the foot of Mt Velebit and 50km away from Zadar. The Paklenica Riviera will impress you with its unique meeting point of the sea and mountains. The Riviera runs along the coast of the Adriatic Sea, beneath the massive Velebit mountain range and the most beautiful part, National Park Paklenica, is found right here.



Numerous hiking trails, historical buildings, old regal trails, fortresses and sacred monuments are evidence of man's centuries long relationship with this mythical mountain range. National Park Paklenica, with its monumental Velika and Mala Paklenica canyons, is the most beautiful part of this mountain range; and has been included in the World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.The crystal clear water, natural small stone beaches, mountain peaks, magnificent canyons, river rapids, maintained trails dating back to ancient times, adventurous excursions and autochthonic flavours will keep you coming back to the Paklenica Riviera.The Riviera of Starigrad includes the settlements of Seline, Tribanj-Kruscica, Tribanj-Sibuljina and Tribanj Mandalina. It is located in its entirety in protected natural surroundings.

history and herritage

The history here has left many trails: rich artefacts from times of antiquity, the Paklaric and Vecka fortresses from the times of the Turkish attacks, the Early Croatian Church of St. Peter, as well as the Mirila, the stone monument markings connected to the former funeral customs of the local population which is a unique phenomenon of this region.

The Church of St. Mary – a votive sanctuary where there is a traditional pilgrimage on 15 August.
