On the right bank of the river Krka, 16km far from Sibenik, lies Skradin, with many natural beauties. There is enter to National park Krka, islet Visovac... The entire town core represents a protected cultural monument. It contains houses dating from the 18th and 19th century which are stuccoed in the manner typical for Venice and areas under her influence.
On the streets of you will find the pleasant atmosphere of a small Dalmatian town, especially during the festival of klapa singing (a capella singing typical for the Croatian Adriatic) or during the celebration of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.The former inhabitants were almost exclusively farmers who planted olive trees, wine grapes and fruit trees. Today they still stick to their traditional farming and because of the mixed waters in the bay there are fish and mussels farms, too. Tourism has also a long tradition here because there is no visitor or tourist who spends their holidays in Dalmatia and doesn't visit this city and the natural phenomena of the River Krka.Skradin had the first hydroelectric power plant in Europe, opened in 1895, at the same time as Tesla’s famous power plant at Niagara Falls!

ACI Marina
ACI Marina is situated in a little cove northwest of the pier in Skradin. Because of the fresh-water nature of the marina, it is a popular place for sailing enthusiasts to leave their vessels (especially wooden ones) during the winter. It has 160 sea berths. All berths are supplied with water and power. Marina is able to accommodate mega-yachts or up to 70 m in length.
History and herritage
It is on the site of the ancient town of Scardona. It was a Roman Municipium; it had a bishopric in 539 that endured until 1830. It became part of Venice in 1355 and passed from one occupier to another with the rest of Dalmatia. The Turks conquered town in 1522 and walled the town but in 1684 it again fell to Venice. On the largest town's square there is a church of Mala Gospa from the 18th ct. with the bell tower some twenty metres far from it. In the very centre of the town there is St.Spiridon's orthodox church from the 19th ct., and there are also the churches of St.Petko and of St.Jeronim's.
Events
In the first week of August, city hosts the Festival of Dalmatian harmony-singing groups while special festivities are held on the Feast of the Birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary (September 8) and St. Jerome (September 30), the patron saint of town.
