Rogoznica travel & tourism guide
Rogoznica, little fishermans village is placed in a deep bay, hidden from a sea waves and opened sea. It is on a good position (34 km south from Sibenik and also so far from airport Split), with a lots of historical monuments, and fascinating beauty of nature. One part of village lies on the coast and is called Kopaca while the other was originally an island that has been converted into a peninsula. Rogoznica was always considered one of potential tourist bathing resorts of highest category.
Chief occupations are farming, fishing and tourism, and village kept the old house in stone, which, together with palm trees on the waterfront, gives to Rogoznica an authentic Mediterranean atmosphere.It is frequently visited by boaters because of Frapa marina, considered to be one of the most beautiful and safest in this part of the Adriatic. It is traditionally a fishing settlement and visitors can buy recently caught fish.

Accommodation capacities are in private apartments and villas. Most of them are just by the sea, with small beaches. Secluded beaches await you in numerous inlets in the vicinity of village. The coast here is deeply indented, both in the large bay and in the surrounding area. There is a little salt lake nearby, unique for its high and low tide phenomenon, called “Dragon's eye”Nearby there are many hidden beaches in the numerous small bays.Rogoznica is perfect for water sports and recreation is possible on the terrain on the coast. Along the coast is trim, ideal for jogging and walking.
history and herritage
This town was first mentioned in the year 1518. There are still visible remains of a fort and windmill which sit at the top of the island which the frence started to build in the year 1809. The town church was built in the year 1615 and the mediaevil church of St. Nicolas was also preserved and sits in the Old Town of Rogoznica. Just south of village, on Cape Ploce, stands the church of St. John of Trogir. This church is a beautiful example of dalmation architecture and was built in the 13th century.
