Porec

Porec is the most popular holiday resort in Istria and has named the top resort in Croatia by the Croatian National Tourist Office numerous times. There are over 100,000 beds available in the area, but hotels and other facilities are widely spread so the place never feels too crowded. It is a historic town half way up the western side of the magnificent istrian peninsula. A tourist haven which is rich in history and coastal beauty.

The mild climate, indented coast with numerous islands and peninsulas thick with pine trees, with beautiful beaches, sheltered from the sea by the island Sveti Nikola, Porec has become a leading center of Croatian tourism, developing from a small fishing village to an attractive tourist center.


Material and spiritual traces of great cultures are evident at every turn in the narrow cobbled streets and squares of Old Town. Archaeological finds evidence of habitation in anicent history. In Roman times it was fortified Roman camp Colonija Julia Parentiumo as evidenced by the remains of the forum and temples. Aisled Eufrazijana best preserved monument of Byzantine art from the VI. century with the remains of early Christian floor mosaics formed by II. to VI. century. The upper parts of the central apse are decorated with mosaic compositions of extraordinary artistic value and beauty.

The rich tourist tradition (the first hotel built in 1896 yrs.) and concern for guests is evident at every turn.

The main tourist areas are two bays south of the town, called Zelena (Green) and Plava (Blue) Laguna (lagoon). They are almost like small towns, with several hotels in each, as well as camping (Lanterna camp site, Bijela Uvala family camp site, Zelena Laguna campsite , marina, shopping and entertainment areas. Most visitors stay in one of the two.

Attractive hotels, modern resorts, sun sank in the bay of fragrant greenery and abundance of tourist attractions are the view of many tourist and recreational athletes.There is large number of well-known nightclubs, bars, discos and restaurants.It offers a wide variety of activities, like beach volley, tennis courts, mini golf, table tennis, volleyball, water-skiing, bungee jumping and numerous others.

Many cultural events are organized throughout the year: classical music, jazz concerts, folklore events and various entertainment eveningsThe rich tourist offer, you will find in the surrounding villages, a noteworthy variety of restaurants and indigenous Istrian taverns with all the charms of true Mediterranean cuisine. Villages in the hinterland of the picturesque Istrian village of persistent beauty, in which there is no place stress and hurry, where life goes slowly.
