Pag is the second longest island in the Adriatic. It covers an area of 110 square miles (284.6 square km) and is 37 miles (63 km) long. Due to the strong wind of Bura, the island has very little vegetation but the numerous stone walls built by farmers and shepherds allow for some cultivation. In spite of this, it has a lot of charm. The main towns on the island are; Pag, Novalja, Povljana, Simuni, Zigljen, Kustici, Caska, Zubovici, Metajna, Potocnica, Lun as well as many smaller towns.
It is best known for its world famous cheese (Paški sir), delicious lamb and the famous lacework . Famous cheese is made from milk of islands sheep that are still traditionally bred on the island. Other than tourism, salt production is a major economic activity, dating back to ancient times.Besides traditional tasty food, it is also an island of kilometers long beaches, crystal clear sea and wonderful bays. In summer, it's also known for its never ending parties and entertainment.
Novalja is the largest resort on the island, and is well-known as being the most party-orientated place throughout the whole of Croatia! It is connected to the mainland by ferry and bridge to the south. Novalja and its wider area has beautiful natural sand or gravel beaches and crystal clear sea. The beaches are located near hotels, apartments and camps, and there is a rich restaurant offer and numerous recreational facilities. Best known beach is Zrce that in summer becomes the center of nightlife in this part of Europe. We recommend a visit to the city museum in which you can see the underground aquaduct from ancient times that is now a major tourist attraction in Novalja. Not far from Novalja is another attraction: Pag Triangle - triangular footprint in stone some associate with the appearance of UFOs. Choose Novalja for your vacation and enjoy all its charms.Pag, the largest town on the island of the same name, is a town of rich history and cultural heritage. Construction of the new town started according to the designs of Juraj Dalmatinac in the 15th century. Most important monument is the Church of the Assumption on the main towns square. There are a number of hotels and the private accommodation is plentiful. The island is a haven of beautiful beaches, sun and fun. Here visitors will get a taste of history while enjoying a wonderful and exciting holiday. The island is very easy to reach. It is connected to the mainland by bridge at its southern end, so you can travel by bus from Zadar and Rijeka. There are also daily ferries from Rijeka to Novalja (journey time 2 hours 30 minutes), and Prizna on the mainland to Zigljen on the east of the island (journey time only 15 minutes!).
