Milna

Milna is situated in a deep harbour on the western coast of the Brac island, some 20km from Supetar. It is typical Mediterranean fishing village. Place today has about 1000 inhabitants and it is a municipal center, which includes the village Lozisca, Bobovisca, and Bobovisca on the sea. Economy is based on farming, shipbuilding, fishing, processing of fish and tourism. It is best natural harbour on the island Brac because it is protected from all winds except from summer mistrels. The settlement developed in the 17th century today is known for several bays with sandy and pebble beaches, such as Pasikova, Lucice, Maslinova and Osibova, ideal for families with small children.

The crystal clear sea, beautiful beaches, domestic healthy food, ideal condition for diving, sailing, fishing, and a fast connection to the land, rich cultural life in the place, peace and silence in the place with no big crowd, that are main advantages of Milna. There are few hotels and numerous apartments and rooms in private accommodation.In Milna’s restaurants you can taste plenty of fishes and mollusks.

Milna ACI Marina, has 144 berths in the sea and 15 places on the land. It is open all year round, it has 170 berths and 20 boat places on land. ACI marina Milna has been allocated for the high award "European Blue Flag". This recognition is awarded to beaches and marinas that meet the strictest environmental standards in safety and purity of water and the environment.

The most important historical sites in Milna are the parish church of Our Lady of the Annunciation from year 1783 characterized by a rich interior with various images, sculptures and tombstones. Another particular example of cultural heritage lies in the bay Osibova that carefully preserves the ruins of an old Gothic church. Interesting historical fact relating to Milna is that during the Napoleonic wars in 1820 the Russian fleet had its own naval base in Milna.
