Kvarner

History of Kvarner dates back to prehistory. The first inhabitants were Liburni. The impact on this area had the Greeks and Romans to the fullest extent. The powerful Roman influence still speak and many cultural remains and historical monuments. Croatians settled this area in the 7th century.
Region lies next to Istria, and consists of shoreline with islands and mountainous areas. Bascanska plate is one of the oldest monuments of the Croatian language and the Glagolitic in this area.

Because of its position, it is easily accessible from all European routes. The main airport is Rijeka on Krk Island. A modern highway excellent connects this region to all main routes of middle europe and with all directions in Croatia and can be reached by sea.
