Kvarner

History of Kvarner dates back to prehistory. The first inhabitants were Liburni. The impact on this area had the Greeks and Romans to the fullest extent. The powerful Roman influence still speak and many cultural remains and historical monuments. Croatians settled this area in the 7th century.
Region lies next to Istria, and consists of shoreline with islands and mountainous areas. With its favorable mild climate which, combined with clean water, beautiful beaches, many hotels, campsites, apartments and rooms in private homes, restaurants, numerous content for entertainment and recreation, an abundance of tourist attractions and tourist programs can satisfy the most demanding guests.

The most famous center of congress tourism is Opatija, an elite tourist resort with the longest tourist tradition in Croatia.
Rijeka is the center of the region and its famous carnival city, other major cities are Opatija, Crikvenica, Senj, and Lovran.
The largest islands are Losinj, Cres, Rab, Pag and Krk which is the largest island in the Adriatic.


It is an area that keeps many monasteries, old churches and historic Marian shrines as well as rich galleries, museums and treasures.
Trsat is the oldest Marian shrine in Croatia, which is located in Rijeka, on its slopes, which provide the best panoramic view of the Bay.
Bascanska plate is one of the oldest monuments of the Croatian language and the Glagolitic in this area.
This is an extremely valuable document that contains information about the origin of the local church the existence of Croats in this region.

Because of its position, it is easily accessible from all European routes. The main airport is Rijeka on Krk Island. A modern highway excellent connects this region to all main routes of middle europe and with all directions in Croatia and can be reached by sea.
