Drnis
Drnis is located in the central part of the Sibenik-Knin County and with its villages covering an area of 355 km2.It is 32 km northeast from Sibenik and it is well connected with Split, and through Knin with the hinterland.
Because of the neraby fertile Peter's field, it is traditionally orientated to the agriculture and cattle breeding. Once it was a mininig centers as there were some bauxite and coal mines.City area has very specific climatic conditions that have changed the character of the Mediterranean climate, climate is mostly sub-Mediterranean, hot in summer (heat and drought), mild winter with abundant autumn-winter rainfall.
The beginnings of tourism here starts in the beginning of the twentieth century, associated with John (Đovaninom) Skelin wich built the first hotel in Roski falls 1908. In addition, he organized the first touristic trips to the Krka boat carrying picnickers from Roski Slap over Visovac to Skradin Buk waterfall.The first hotel in town completed in 1912. year.

Thanks to its transit position and vicinity to famous destinations and coast, it has good natural conditions for developing eco / rural tourism, whith offer of traditional products already known in the world.There are two hunting societies, and maintained their hunting areas provide perspective for the development of hunting tourism. Quality wines and very famous Drnis smoked ham are just one of all the reasons to visit this region. Meštrovic, Otavice mausoleum is the right place for art lovers of the sculptor Ivan Mestrovic. Nearby, around the town you can find a sculptor works: Source of Life, relief of Oracle, the statue of the pregnant women, the relief of St. Rocco and Our Lady Petropoljsku.
History and herritage
During the Turkish domination numerous buildings were built but only some parts of the tower, a tall thin tower-minaret with the little church of St.Rocco's beside are preserved while the former big mosque was turned in the baroque period into the St.Anthony's church.
For the birth centennial of the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic a Domicile Museum was opened which has permanent exhibition of the archeological rests even from the neolithic era, further on there are some from the Roman times and finally some from the times when the Croats arrived to this area. In the Museum there is also a collection of the Mestrovic's works and the valuable ethnological collection.In the nearby village of Otavice Mestrovic had built a mausoleum for himself and the members of his family, which has great artistic value and is a very known cultural monument.
